The rightsizing law may result in the separation in service of thousands of public sector employees whose jobs are considered redundant, but will result in billions in savings for the government. The law shall take effect 15 days after publication or on Aug. 19. Under the law, the President may scale down, phase out, eliminate, or discontinue functions, programs, projects, or activities that can be better carried out or undertaken by the private sector, or have already been devolved to local government units.
