Rustan’s executive Paolo Tantoco died of cocaine use, says LA medical examiner

MANILA, Philippines – The Los Angeles (LA) County Medical Examiner confirmed that Rustan Commercial Corporation (RCC) executive Paolo “Paowee” Tantoco died from cocaine use.

In the case detail page of Tantoco’s case, his death was marked as accidental, with the primary cause being “cocaine effects.”

The LA medical examiner also noted that before his death, Tantoco was suffering from “probable atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” or plaque buildup in the arteries, which causes the thickening of the walls surrounding a person’s blood vessels.

According to Hollywood LA News, Tantoco was in the US as part of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ entourage at the Manila International Film Festival, which was held from March 4 to 7.

Hinikayat ni Sen. Imee Marcos ang Palasyo na magsumite ng isang komprehensibong report tungkol sa pagkamatay ng negosyanteng si Paolo Tantoco, at sa posibleng pagkakasangkot umano ni First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at ng iba pang government officials dito.

Kasunod ito ng report na pumanaw si Tantoco dahil sa umano’y “cocaine effects.”

May mga kumakalat na ulat na bahagi umano si Tantoco ng entourage ni First Lady noong magpunta siya sa Los Angeles. Dahil dito, posibleng may kaalaman umano ang First Lady sa insidente.

Humihingi rin ng clarification si Sen. Marcos sa kinaroroonan ng First Lady noong mangyari ang insidente, at official records tulad ng medical examiner’s report para pabulaanan ang mga ulat.
